Review: 3/5 stars

September Love is the first work I've ever read from Lang Leav - and while this is not the genre of poetry I'd usually gravitate toward, I really enjoyed this collection. It resonated with me greatly for its intimate portraits of heartbreak, closure, identity and longing.

Although I would consider this easy-reading, I did find it challenging to get invested in the poems at the beginning. I must preface that I am not the biggest poetry fan as is, but the Rupi Kaur-esque genre of poetry that dominates the internet in our time sees bite-sized pieces of poetry that hits you fast and quick. I finished this collection in one sitting while on a short flight - by the end of it I can say that there were more than a few poems that did make me flip back the page to read them again.

Lang Leav is known for her ability to portray such complex and unnerving emotion in a disarmingly simple collection of words. For that, I am very drawn to her work for its inclination to give away these emotions so freely and willingly.
